What is your name?
Hi, I am David Prouse from Melbourne, Australia.
What was your very first cooking experience?
Family BBQ'S when i was a kid.
Do you ever make mistakes cooking?
Trying to make up recipes as i am cooking.
Who taught you how to cook?
One of my best friends in Australia was an apprentice chef and I worked under him for many many years.
Why do you like to plan and make meals?
I like putting myself into the meals I prepare. A lot of cooking is really from the heart-that's really the best meal you can make.
What advice do you have for kids to learn to cook?
All kids should learn to cook. Enjoy it and enjoy making mistakes. Some of the best meals come from the mistakes.
Why do you like zisboombah?
I like how it's the kids who are planning the meals. It's very important to have kids involved in making healthy decisions about what they will eat.
What is your favorite food?
Asian-especially Vietnamese because its fresh and healthy cooking.
How long have you been a chef?
25 years. I became a chef because my love of food and it's one of the only jobs you can work anywhere in the world. It's an amazing industry.
What does your day consist of?
Early starts, preparing for the day, planning supplies and ordering, organizing and preparing food for lunch and functions.
What thought process do you use when making a meal?
Making sure it's the same consistency is really important. Making sure its the same as every other time I've cooked that dish. It keeps them coming back.
If you have kids, do they like to eat your food?
My kids love my Asian chicken and corn soup, roasts with lots of roasted vegetables and homemade healthy beef, chicken and fish burgers.
